Ekponmwen is an ambitious and community-driven young leader. He joined Voyage in October 2023 after being recommended by a friend, and he quickly stood out in the Young Leaders for Sustainable Cities programme, earning the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at the 2023 Christmas celebrations.
In 2024, Ekponmwen took part in Aim for Success, where he strengthened his CV, developed key job-readiness skills, and prepared for a successful summer work placement. He also contributed to the Windrush Elders Project, working closely with members of the Windrush generation to help document and preserve their stories. His involvement supported the creation and publication of a book, ensuring these important lived experiences were recorded for future generations.
Ekponmwen also joined the Groundbreakers Architecture Project, contributing his ideas towards the redesign of the historic 50 Fenchurch Street site and gaining experience in architecture, heritage and urban design. He also took part in the Voyage Summer Scheme, participating in the business challenge, where he developed innovative ideas and demonstrated strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
He now serves as a Heritage Ambassador for Voyage, and he actively works within the Youth Voice Network as a youth consultant for major companies, helping influence EDI/DEI policies and ensuring young people’s voices are heard where decisions matter most.

As part of the Voyage Voices programme, he wrote a highly impressive and well-researched article on the impacts of fast fashion. In that work, Ekponmwen explored the environmental, social and ethical consequences of the industry with a level of depth and clarity that stood out among his peers.
His piece examined issues such as overproduction, global supply chains and labour exploitation, and he communicated these complex ideas in a clear, engaging and thoughtful way. The submission demonstrated not only strong research skills but also maturity, critical thinking and a genuine commitment to raising awareness about challenges affecting society today.
Ekponmwen’s past involvement with Voyage Voices shows that he is already capable of using his voice responsibly and effectively, and that he consistently engages with important, real-world topics in a meaningful way.
